Dark Mode
I’m not the biggest dark mode fan, but I know a lot of people are. Apple has joined the club and have added dark mode to iOS and iPadOS. It can be scheduled based on time or sunrise/sunset. It can also be manually controlled from Control Center. There’s also new wallpapers that will change with dark mode.
One night I glanced at my smartphone and noticed it rebooting, over and over. It was stuck in a boot loop. Factory reset didn’t work, so I sent it off for warranty repair. Meanwhile I needed a phone to use, so I took my backup phone out, a Nokia 301 feature phone. An interesting week was about to begin.
Some time ago I saw a bus make a stop, and almost everyone had their heads tilted down, looking at their phones, unaware of the world around them. I bet that a significant amount of these commuters have no idea what their surroundings outside the bus look like. It can for sure help make a boring commute fly by more quickly, but I have been thinking about unhealthy smartphone use for some time now.
