New watch faces
There is a selection of new watch faces available in watchOS 6. More choice is always a good thing.
Dark Mode
I’m not the biggest dark mode fan, but I know a lot of people are. Apple has joined the club and have added dark mode to iOS and iPadOS. It can be scheduled based on time or sunrise/sunset. It can also be manually controlled from Control Center. There’s also new wallpapers that will change with dark mode.
The Apple Watch can now be used to authenticate actions on a Mac, such as unlocking locked notes, unlock protected settings in System Preferences, modify root files and approve app installations. It can also authenticate anywhere macOS prompts for the user password.
tvOS now allows for multiple user profiles, to separate recommendations and up next items. User selections is handled from the new control center where sleep mode and audio routing.
To better understand the advantages and disadvantages of OLED displays, we need to take a brief look at LCD displays. The way LCD displays work is that they have a backlight that’s always emitting white light through color filters. Each pixel consists of three subpixels which are red, green and blue. To change the color of a pixel, LCD crystals control how much light goes through each of these individual subpixels to mix the desired color.
